P. Sharkey Burke is a Co-Founder and Member of Anderson, Crawley and Burke, PLLC. For the vast majority of his practice, he has represented defendants in civil litigation in state and federal courts on behalf of insurers, insureds, and self insured corporations in a variety of litigation, including but not limited to workers compensation, premises liability, state tort and civil rights claims against county and local governmental entities in the State of Mississippi (including sheriff’s departments, school districts, municipalities and county governments). Over the past 15 years, his primary focus has been defending employers and insurance carriers in state workers’ compensation claims, other employment discrimination matters, and defending tort claims against county and local governmental entities in the State of Mississippi.
Mr. Burke completed his preparatory education at Millsaps College (B.S., History 1992) and his legal education at Mississippi College School of Law (J.D., cum laude, 1996). He is a member of the Mississippi Bar Association (Employment Law, Administrative Law and Governmental Law and Workers’ Compensation Section), Madison County Bar Association, Defense Research Institute and the Bar Association for the Fifth Federal Circuit.
Mr. Burke became a member of the Mississippi Bar in 1996, has successfully litigated cases in state and federal courts throughout Mississippi and is licensed to practice before all state and federal courts in Mississippi. He is an ally with the Alliance Defending Freedom, as well as a trained mediator through Peacemaker Ministries. Mr. Burke has also been a faculty member for numerous seminars relating to workers’ compensation and other employment related issues and also provides training seminars for the claims community regarding Mississippi Workers’ Compensation Law. He was recently elected to the French Camp Academy Board of Trustees.
Mr. Burke has been married to his wife, Paige, for 15 years and they have 4 children.
